Explore New Zealand

Tour around the South Island of New Zealand and you quickly realise that you are amongst some of the finest scenery in the world. You also realise fast that you do not have enough time. Unlike other countries, here you have something different around nearly every corner. On the map distances may seem short but travel times are a lot longer. Be prepared to limit yourself to only special places. Almost daily I meet visitors that are driving around the whole of the South Island in a week or ten days. Mostly the sit in a car looking out the window and seeing very little. You need to be prepared to slow down (and that's what holidays are all about right?) get out, walk a little and discover the real New Zealand.

Favourite Places.

My favourite place on the whole planet is the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand and of course I am a little biased as I live here as well. Lynne and I would like to share with you some of our favourite places and experiences. When european settlers first arrived in New Zealand just over 160 years ago New Zealand was blanketed in thick impenetrable forest today little remains most having been converted to farmland but here in the West of the South Island most of the original forest cover remains. Here you can experience wild and scenic rivers, podocarp forest, glaciers that flow down to almost sea level and yet are still surrounded by the beauty of temperate rain forest.
