Garden Waste

Garden waste is insidious. It seems harmless enough. Unfortunately often it contains the most invasive plants and noxious weeds from home gardens. These plants are now taking over the entire river bed and are out of control. Here it is dumped in the beautiful wild and scenic snow fed Taramakau River bed. Often it contains domestic rubbish as well.

The future cleanup here and elsewhere in our pure clean and green country resulting from irresponsible activity is going to cost New Zealand millions

"The 100% Pure New Zealand brand does establish a level of expectation among potential visitors that New Zealand's natural environment will be clean and well cared for. Government, and our tourism agencies, recognize the importance of the natural environment in fulfilling New Zealand's marketing promise. This creates an incentive for all of New Zealand to take action to ensure we live up to the 100% Pure New Zealand promise."
