1080 101. 000% Pure

New Zealand uses 80% (most likely more) of the worlds production of 1080 poison The purpose of that is to control bovine tb and New Zealands #1 pest the Australian Possum. Both of these causes have been justified by authorities and others for the continuing aerial bombardment of New Zealands landscape on a very grand scale.

The government recently had a review of the use of 1080 and found that whilst there are doubts about its continued use it does not have an alternative to 1080. Unpure NZ considers that it is imperative the New Zealand Government urgently invests heavily in researching for a new alternative method of total eradication of these pests.

Right now the NZ govt is running a huge surplus - it has the need - Aerial bombing with 1080 does not get rid of possums! It just controls them for 4years or less. Then the bombardment returns. It terrifies the locals that it is dropped near.

Regional Councils just do not seem to understand that citizens do not want this horrible toxic deadly poison dropped by air into their waterways. No matter what! In our region 1080 can be dropped in any waterway under 20m wide - that is most of them!

The NZ Govt has become mesmerized by 1080. In a warp of never ending cycles and addiction to this chemical and has lost its way.

1080 Protests

There have recently been huge 1080 protests on the West Coast as the West Coast Regional Council delivers its annual dose of around 80 tons of the deadly toxic poison.

Local residents are angry at the continual intrusion into their lives as this stuff is dropped near houses, on roads and into waterways.

"The 100% Pure New Zealand brand does establish a level of expectation among potential visitors that New Zealand's natural environment will be clean and well cared for. Government, and our tourism agencies, recognize the importance of the natural environment in fulfilling New Zealand's marketing promise. This creates an incentive for all of New Zealand to take action to ensure we live up to the 100% Pure New Zealand promise."
