Standoff

Unpure New Zealand finds standoff pads all over the West Coast these days. Frequently these pads are near water and often are dissected by streams. In this case the drain pictured runs right into a stream just a few metres away. That stream is a tributary of the nearby Grey River.

Downstream and not too far away is the intake of a town water supply. West Coast town water supplies often fail drinking water tests and considering the high rainfall of our region that is very concerning.

Effluent pollution from dirty dairying like this is a major contributor to failing water quality and pollution of our once wild and scenic rivers. Sadly this is happening on a New Zealand wide basis.

Conflict of Interest

Despite having the cows at this place for several months in this case the farmer was served with an abatement notice only ! UnpureNZ bet he is really worried about that!

Regional Councils that are led by farmers such as ours are just not dealing adequately with the threat.

Proof of that is right here in these images.

The Chairman of the West Coast Regional council the body that is responsible for environmental monitoring and protection of our environment is also Chairman of Westland Dairy Products the regions milk company!

"The 100% Pure New Zealand brand does establish a level of expectation among potential visitors that New Zealand's natural environment will be clean and well cared for. Government, and our tourism agencies, recognize the importance of the natural environment in fulfilling New Zealand's marketing promise. This creates an incentive for all of New Zealand to take action to ensure we live up to the 100% Pure New Zealand promise."
